This traditional stone house is in the hillside village of Matsoukata, which is only 3km from cosmopolitan Fiscardo, on the northern side of Kefalonia.
The home was built in 1843 and was renovated recently, with much care, to preserve its tradition and history. A holiday destination that's authentic yet beautiful, unspoilt yet lively, where you enjoy the good life yet feel very much at home.
"Anofli" is the Greek name for the large stone beam (horizontal structural element) that spans the main entrance of the stone house to support the load from the structure above, i.e., lintel. The house is built on two acres of land and is surrounded by a cypress tree forest, which provides visitors with total serenity. You can also enjoy moments of relaxation under a two-hundred-year-old olive tree.
In this home, you can feel the charm and romance of another era without being deprived of modern-day comforts. It is decorated with an array of old antique items and a touch of some modern artistic works. Although the furniture is modern, it had ultimately been selected by the owners to reflect the charm of the old traditional era.
