We really liked the location of the hotel. It’s peaceful, intimate and away from the more crowded parts of Santorini.nnI definitely recommend renting a car. With a car, almost anywhere on the island is within 20–25 minutes.nnThe main pool is beautiful, with an amazing view of the caldera. The hotel itself is quite intimate, and even when it was full, it never felt crowded.nnThe Akrotiri Lighthouse is only about a 7-minute drive away and the sunsets there are absolutely stunning. People come from all over the island to watch and photograph them.nnThe black beach is about 10 minutes away by car and, in my opinion, it was a great beach.nnThe hotel also has a sushi restaurant, possibly the only one on the island. It’s very good, although naturally the prices are a little higher.nnRight next to the hotel entrance there is a lovely small café run by two partners. Modern, relaxed, reasonably priced, with excellent coffee and freshly made cocktails. We ended up going there every day during our five-day stay.nnThere is a small mini-market about a 12-minute walk away. The selection is limited, but it was perfectly fine for water, snacks and basic supplies.nnThere are also several good restaurants nearby. We ate at a lovely family-run taverna and at another small restaurant with a fantastic view. Both had excellent food at reasonable prices.nnThere is a gas station at the entrance to Akrotiri and a few bakeries just a few minutes away by car. One of the main ones, Grigoris, is right near the gas station.nnThe service throughout our stay was excellent. A special mention goes to John (yannis) who looked after us in the mornings and through out the day. He was extremely polite, efficient and genuinely kind, and always did everything he could to make us feel at home. His warm and attentive service really added to our stay.nnOverall, a great location if you prefer peace, privacy and beautiful views rather than staying in the busiest tourist areas.

One minor issue was that, for some reason, there were some ants in one specific area of the shower during the night. It didn’t really bother me, but it may be something that other guests would find annoying.nnAlso, only one of the jets in the private hot tub in our room was working. Again, this didn’t bother me too much, as the one working jet was strong and effective enough, but it’s something that could be improved.
